Multiple Device Help

The multiple device settings available here are only available for users of the subscription service of GooSync. If you have not yet upgraded to the GooSync Premium account you can do so by using the upgrade account button on the home page once you are logged into your account.

Please find below details on how to configure your GooSync account to synchronise with multiple devices.

Device List
All devices associated with your GooSync account will be displayed on the home page once you are logged in. If you do not yet have a device associated with your account you will be prompted to select one once you log into GooSync.

The screen shot below shows how the devices will be displayed once they have been added to your GooSync account (your devices will be listed alphabetically).

Each device will have separate customisation links for each datastore it can synchronise (Calendar, Contacts and Tasks).

All devices will synchronise with the same Google account but each device can be configured to synchronise different calendars or contacts/tasks categories.

Adding Devices
If this is your first time logging into your GooSync account you will be prompted to select a device that you wish to synchronise with.

A list of devices will be displayed, with a Manufacturer drop-down list at the top of the screen. Select the required manufacturer and then select your device model (or the closest one if your model is not listed). Save the device and you will be taken to the configuration page for that device, which will provide manual and automatic configuration instructions (if supported).

Once you return to the home page of your account you will see your device listed as in the screen shot below.

Now you have the option to customise the synchronisation settings for your device by using the relevant Customise links next to the name of each datastore (Calendar, Contacts and Tasks).

You will need to synchronise this device with your GooSync account before you can add a different device to your account. Once synchronised a new "Add Device" button will appear below your device.

When adding additional devices you will be given the ability to copy the sync settings from one of your existing devices.

Changing Devices
The "Change Model" link next to the name of your device will allow you to quickly change a device that is associated with your account.

Clicking this link will take you to the select device page just as if you were adding a new device.

Once the device is saved the sync settings from the previous device (calendar sync window etc) will automatically be copied over to the new device. The exception to this is when changing from a category enabled device (e.g. Palm OS) to a device that does not support calendar categories. In this situation your new device will be configured to use the Tags system instead.

Removing Devices
Clicking the "Remove" link next to the name of your device will allow you to delete this device from your account.

Doing so will prevent that device from synchronising unless you add a new device to your account.

Device Customisation
Each device you add to your account can be customised to synchronise different data from Google/GooSync.

You will see a list of datastores that your device can synchronise with on your device list. Next to which will be a "Customise" link.

The Customise link for calendar will take you to the Calendars page where you will be able to select which Google calendars you wish to synchronise, as well as modifying the sync window for that device.

Customising the Contacts datastore (if synchronising with GooSync Contacts) will allow you to select which contact categories you wish to synchronise with your device.

Customising the Tasks datastore will allow you to select which task categories you wish to synchronise with your device.

If you are attempting to synchronise the Funambol Outlook Plugin you will find that you will not have a Tasks datastore listed. This is because Funambol does not support the synchronisation of tasks with GooSync (Funambol uses an unsupported Tasks format).

Limitations
GooSync will currently allow you to have a maximum of four devices associated with your account. Once all four devices have been added to your account you will be unable to add any more unless you remove or change an existing device.

When adding a device to GooSync you must first synchronise it before you will be allowed to add any additional devices. This is to prevent the device ID from being associated with the incorrect device on your account.

It is not possible to synchronise both Google Contacts and GooSync Contacts using the same GooSync account. If you decide to change your contacts manager (e.g. move from GooSync to Google) you will change it for all devices currently associated with your account (there is a message informing you of this on the Change Contacts Provider page).
